Step into the quiet, earthy world of the forest floor. In this class, you’ll paint mushrooms and moss using two different approaches: traditional, botanically-inspired mushrooms with real detail and color, or wonky, whimsical ones in playful, unexpected colors and textures. You’re free to lean into one style or blend both.

Using reference photos and simple, guided drawings, artists of all skill levels will be able to explore the world of mushrooms and moss in a variety of styles from “cutie” to serious and realistic. All students will walk away with individual studies of mushrooms and moss and one larger scene on watercolor paper.

This class is a perfect autumn escape, slow and meditative, giving you room to experiment freely between realism and whimsy, and to walk away with a small forest floor scene entirely your own.
